Graduate Research Assistant
 
We are constantly seeking highly motivated Ph.D. students to work with us. The admitted Ph.D. students should be able to conduct research independently as well as in an interdisciplinary team across multiple departments. The potential research topics include, but not limited to safety analytics using large-scale driving data, Bayesian spatiotemporal modeling, connected and autonomous vehicles for crash prevention, machine learning with applications in transportation, causal inference for evaluation of safety treatments, and data-centric emergency management. The admitted Ph.D. students are expected to take courses related to statistics, machine learning, high performance computing, optimization, programming, and visualization.

Desired qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering, Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, Psychology, Geographic Information Systems or a related field
  • Skills in data processing and programming (e.g., Python, R, Matlab, C/C++, Java)
  • Experience in academic writing
